Appearances of Divinity to Abraham’s Family.

divinity to Abe's family.

Abraham and his family hear from divinity twelve times:
1. Lord Yahway calls Abram to create a blessed family for humanity (12:1-4].
2. Lord Yahway comforts Abram after Lot leaves [13:14 - 17].
3. After Abram rescues Lot, Lot returns to Sodom. Abram is again comforted by Lord Yahway who promises Abram offspring more numerous than the stars in the sky [15:1-16].
4. Lord Yahway's messenger speaks to a woman for the first time when Sarai's servant Hagar is lost in the wilderness. [16:8 - 12].
5. God, who reveals himself as El Shaddai ["Power of my Breast"] changes Abram's name to "Abraham" and Sarai's name to "Sarah" [17.1-22].
6. The Lord Yahway appears as one of three strangers who tells Abraham he will have a child with Sarah within the year [18:13- 15].
7. Abraham then tries to convince the Lord Yahway not to destroy the good folks with the wicked in Sodom [18:17-33].
8. Abraham asks God to heal King Abimelech's family after the king returns Sarah to Abraham. [20:17-18].
9. The Lord Yahway visits Sarah to help her conceive Isaac [21:1].
10. God's messenger helps Hagar and Ishmael survive the wilderness [21:17-20].
11. God asks Abraham to sacrifice Isaac [22:1-2].
12. A messenger from the Lord Yahway stops Abraham from sacrificing Isaac [22:11-18].
